The White House, The Capitol Building, The Lincoln Memorial, all these things have been affected by ancient Roman architecture. This ancient Roman architecture came to be around the time period of the Pax Romana in the Roman Empire. It was a time of great wealth and prosperity for the empire which brought it into a time of a sort of golden age for architecture. This type of architecture was influenced by the ancient Greeks, but it took their ideas and transformed them to better advantage their own empire. These ideas and works are still being used today in our society in some of the most influential buildings of our time. These structures helped define the romans and the structures they created during their time period. The Roman Empire was one of the first to create massive amounts of roads that connected one end of the empire to the other. Their first and primary reason for the building of these roads was to transport their armies quickly across massive distances. Overtime, these roads were first created with gravel and dirt, but as technology improved so did the roads that they could build. They began to build them with stone and they cambered for drainage which meant that the roads didn’t need to be maintained as often. These roads manufactured a more complex and dynamic economy that increased the wealth that flowed within the empire. This is one of the first times in documented in history that people, in large numbers, used roads to establish their power over a wide range of land. The use of roads by the Romans was recreated by almost every empire and republic that followed them because of the immense amounts of success that the Romans had with it. In text 1 Valerie’s point of view about plastic surgery, is that even though you are feeling bad about a particular part of your body, it is still a part of you. It would be nice if she could have a nose that wasn’t too big and hooked. Even though she fantasized about getting her nose done, she has never considered this option seriously. Valerie says that time has changed because at the time, plastic surgery was just beginning to gain steam, and most of the time teenagers weren’t on-board. According to the American Society of Plastic surgeons, 330. 000 teenagers, most of them females, have got plastic surgery. American teens are constantly making sure to be attractive, and especially when they are surrounded by images of beautiful men and woman that lend a hand. Then, you will keep undergoing cosmetic surgeries one by one. Most importantly, cosmetic surgeries are high risk. A simple mistake will have already become a surgery failure. Therefore, she has to live a whole life with a monster face. I would say this is a life gambling. However, cosmetic surgery is not bad at all. Cosmetic surgery can benefit some types of people. In fact, every of us aren’t flawless. Someone may have large area of freckle on their face; someone may have inborn cleft lip . It seems just little thing, but these flaws may cause mocked by the others. Cosmetic surgery also helps those with inborn flaw and those who have different types of accidents. For example, it allows a baby with cleft lip to drink normally; and its helps someone reconstruct skin who get burnt in a fire accident. From above, it seems that cosmetic surgery really benefits in medical function.
